An organic fertiliser supplying 10% to 14% of nitrogen, with a small amount of phosphate, up to about 1.2%. It is quick acting, within 5 days from application. Overuse of this fertiliser can produce a softer, more easily worn weedy surface, especially as this fertiliser produces a neutral reaction on a turf surface. It has been shown to improve drought resistance in turfgrasses. Dried Blood is usually used as a mixture with Hoof and Horn Meal because the latter is much slower at releasing its nitrogen and therefore a mixture of these two fertilisers provides for a good complement of release rates.
