A range of products for the biological control of leatherjackets and chafer grubs in turf. The leatherjacket killer product contains Steinernema feltiae nematodes, requiring application from late August to October when soil temperatures are greater than 10°C, or after a 2-week period from the observation of the adult craneflies. Leatherjackets which have been infected with the nematodes should die within a 2 to 4-week period. Application should take place after the ground has been aerated, scarified and mown, as well as ensuring adequate moisture is present within the soil. Early morning or later evening applications should be undertaken, or when the weather is overcast, to avoid strong light levels which will be harmful to the nematodes. Irrigate the area, if rainfall doesn't occur, after application and keep the area well-watered for a period of 2-weeks after application.
