Sustain

To keep going; to support; to maintain for a period of time. This word is often seen as the starting point for definitions of sustainable or sustainability, however, these latter two terms have a much deeper and richer meaning which involves varied impacts on the environmental space in which we live and work. In general conversation within the grounds care industry the term sustainable is often incorrectly applied to a pitch or surface which is being sustained with applied maintenance practices.
