The position of a hole on a golf green in which a golf flag stick (often called a golf pin) and flag is located. The term pin location is also sometimes used.

If a green is divided into 6 areas (back left and right; central left and right; front left and right), then ideally a minimum of three-hole locations should be available within each area. If four-to-six-hole locations are available, then this will be even better because wear will be able to be spread even more evenly over the green and this also allows for a greater range of positions depending upon prevailing weather conditions. Slopes within a green will reduce the number of hole locations available within a green. There are no formal rules, only guidelines, for the positioning of a golf hole location on a green, however, it will typically be no nearer than 4 or ideally 5 paces from the edge of a green, which is about 4 to 4.5 metres. It would also be unusual for a hole location to any closer than 3-metres from the edge of a green.
