A ratio of the output to the input in a defined period of time. Where there are a team of workers this is given as an average for each worker, although in practice workers will each have a (slightly) different level of output. An example is 18 golf greens being mown by 3 people in 2.5 hours, which would be 18 / 3 = 6 greens per worker / 2.5 hours = 2.4 greens per hour. Labour productivity is a measure of the average efficiency of a worker and timings can be built-up to allow a manager to create a suitable work programme based on worker outputs. However, if values are significantly less from what might be termed optimum efficiency then a manager will need to identify the issues which are producing worker under performance.
