There are many variables which influence the actual, in contrast to the planned, work which are needed to produce a football pitch to a desired standard on a regular basis and in a cost-effective and resource effective way. The following chart illustrates one, of potentially many, interpretations of the example annual maintenance plan.

The figures are not the same as those given in the example quarterly maintenance plans because this is a different example of what could be required for different football pitch. The purpose is to emphasise a key point that any maintenance plans are just guides and there will always be variance for specific pitches from any guide produced by any source.

Football monthly inputs chart

• Match games = 70 (excluding warm-up / friendlies).
• Maintenance cost (labour only) per game £131.13.
