Chairperson

An individual who is in charge of a meeting. They will aim to ensure the meeting runs smoothly, without undue delays and interruptions from participants, maintaining order, aiding discussions, and ensuring the timeliness of the meeting. An important role of a chairperson can be when decisions have to be made, yet agreement amongst participants is difficult to achieve. Aiming to facilitate a compromise agreement which satisfies the majority can be a challenge for a chairperson, so someone having suitable influencing and persuading skills are important criteria for such a person.
