Task Batching

A time management technique that involves working on similar tasks as a group or batch. Using similar skills sets, equipment, thought processes to achieve related tasks helps to reduce switching and changing between different, but related, tasks. This helps to improve on the efficient use of time.
A good example would be to answer emails in a focused session, rather than as and when they arrive in the Inbox, often in dribs and drabs throughout the day. Having emails constantly on is a significant distractor and can significantly reduce efficiency and productivity.
Planning the week ahead, grouping tasks into batches and time blocking them can improve workflow and improve efficient use of available resources. Grouping similar activities into a batch can help focus attention to better succeed in achieving what is required or demanded.
