Incomplete Fertiliser

A term used to describe a fertiliser that contains just one or two of the three primary plant nutrients of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. This isn’t a very helpful term within groundskeeping because quite often during the main growing season there can be a need to only apply a fertiliser that contains Nitrogen. The term may cause some confusion and infer that if a single element fertiliser is used then it is not the most suitable for the situation, when it is often ideal.
