Hard Porous Pitch Maintenance: 10. weeds / Moss

A well maintained and used surface should not need the application of a weedkiller because weeds will not be able to get established.

Hand weeding of juvenile weeds should take place as part of routine maintenance work.

Shaded areas over the wintertime, especially if drainage was poor and low usage took place could see encroachment of moss in areas. This could have been treated with mosskiller or the surface lightly scarified to aid removal, although additional work would also have been needed where drainage was poor.
