3.2 The need for certain activities

3.2.1 Now that we have listed out a good range of maintenance activities, it is a good idea to expand on them just a little and add a very short statement to briefly indicate what each does in looking after a football pitch.

1     Exercise: Before you look at what we have put for each of the maintenance activities (these are all included on the next pages), try and create your own short sentence that indicates what each activity does.

To complete this exercise, you don’t need to include a wide range of possible outcomes for each activity, just one example is all that is required.

We have created a worksheet for you to download and complete. We have also included some example comments for the first two activities. So, keep it short and brief, there is no need to write a large essay. There can be a range of possible comments for each activity.

We have given an example of the first two activities just to help provide a general indication of what might be termed a short sentence for this exercise. We have also included a completed example worksheet, after the next section when each of the maintenance activities have been introduced, that includes some of our comments. There can be a range of possible comments for each activity, so don’t worry if both of our comments are not the same, but hopefully they are in the right area for the relevant activity.
