4.2 How much is needed?

4.2.8 Biostimulants

A 5-litre container of a concentrated biostimulant can be used for 2.5 football pitches that are each 7000m² in area.

How much of this particular concentrate is required for one of these football pitches?

1. Do you need some initial help with the calculations?

The area that is given, i.e. 7,000m², doesn't actually have any influence on the calculation, so you can ignore that figure.

Hopefully this helps you do the remainder of the calculation by focusing just on the required values.

2. Do you need some more help with the calculations?

The values you need are the size of the container (i.e. 5-litres) and how many pitches it can be used on (i.e. 2.5).

Can you now work out the final quantity that is used each week?

3. Do you need some other help with the final calculation?

5 litres of concentrate are used on 2.5 pitches.

So, 5 ÷ 2.5 = 2 litres being applied for each pitch.

There can be another way to arrive at a correct answer, but hopefully the above approach has been clear

With many products to choose from and with a significant diversity of what is offered the following example is just one amongst many.

Amino-Sorb F is a foliar absorbed amino acid supplement that has an application rate of 3-5 litres of concentrate (diluted in 300-500 litres of water) per hectare, being supplied in a 5-litre container. A 7,000m² pitch would therefore require 2.1-3.5 litres of concentrate per application.
