Pre-Planting Herbicide

Any herbicide which is applied to an area to control weeds before a desirable grass seed is actually sown. This is also called a pre-sowing herbicide.
Residual Herbicide

A herbicide which is applied to a soil. It will typically kill newly germinating weed seeds.
Rodenticide

A product for the control of members of the Rodent family, e.g. rats, mice, grey squirrels.
Translocated Herbicide

A herbicide which is taken into a plant during an active growing period and is transported throughout the plant, typically killing both roots and surface vegetation.
Weed and Feed

Dual action combined fertiliser and selective herbicide product used to help control weed content within a turfgrass surface in a single application. An example of a professional product is ICL's Sportsmaster Cleanrun Pro Fertiliser, which has an analysis of 14:0:5 plus MCPA plus Mecoprop-P as the selective herbicide active ingredients.
Weedkiller [2]

A manufactured chemical herbicide which kills weeds in turf as a selective herbicide (e.g. 2,4-D), or in any location as a total non-selective herbicide (e.g. Glyphosate).
