Weed identification

1   Broad-leaved Plantain (Plantago major)

A weed that is broadly oval in shape, having distinct veins, and is also hairless. The leaves of this weed will often die out over the winter period, surviving as rootstock only. It grows on a wide range of soil types, although it has preference for moist soils.

2   Cat’s-ear (Hypochaeris radicata)

A weed that appears similar to a dandelion but has hairy leaves and a smooth, wavy toothed leaf edge. It has a preference for drier soils.
