Gantt Chart

A bar chart that is used to visualise the stages and the timeline of a project or work schedule.
The chart will identify activities that are needed to be completed, which are listed to the left-hand side of the chart, and each activity has a bar related to it that shows its start and finish (i.e. deadline) times, which is located to the right of the activities.
With all activities included a manager is better able to plan for when certain staff, materials or equipment may be needed to complete the schedule and to make efficient use of available resources, rather than having resources all

Garden

An area of land which is often within the boundary of a property. It is maintained in some way, either formally or informally, and may include a lawn, as well as shrubs, flower beds, and occasionally trees. Features present within a garden might include a pergola, pond, patio, shed, and much more.
Garden Centre Chains

An organisation with garden centres at more than a single location. The large DIY companies have dedicated gardening departments, so whilst not a garden chain, they can often be considered as their equivalent. There are other retailers who also offer a satisfactory range of gardening products, many of which are lawn care products. In addition, the vast number of individual garden centres will also offer a small to large range of lawn care products.
The main UK based garden chains include:
• Blue Diamond
• British Garden Centres
• Dobbies
• Frosts
• Haskins

Gardening

The activity of growing plants in primarily an outdoor space and the care and maintenance of them. This is usually carried out in a domestic situation, often as a hobby or leisure activity, however, there are numerous gardening situations which require the services of a full-time paid professional gardener due to the extent of grounds and diversity of plants.
General Purpose Lawn

A general description to categorise probably what the majority of lawns are like in the UK. There will be different standards of finish within this category as well, ranging from excellent to poor. These types of lawns are those which are used for a range of purposes, but generally provide a pleasing and functional feature in a garden. The main grass species used for these lawns will be the hard-wearing Perennial Ryegrass; whilst the height of cut will typically be from 25 to 40mm.
Golf Course Markings

Stakes, painted lines or well-defined physical features which provide a clear boundary between two areas. Markings are used for the following areas:
• Ground Under Repair (GUR): The edge of this is marked by stakes, a continuous painted line, or less commonly a defined area such as a turf nursery. The colour for the marking is not specified in the rules of golf, although white is commonly used.
• Out of Bounds: Any area outside of the boundary edge of the course, being marked by white coloured stakes, a fence, or a white line.
• Penalty Area: Any water features, including ditches, or other

Golf Hole Location

The position of a hole on a golf green in which a golf flag stick (often called a golf pin) and flag is located. The term pin location is also sometimes used.
If a green is divided into 6 areas (back left and right; central left and right; front left and right), then ideally a minimum of three-hole locations should be available within each area. If four-to-six-hole locations are available, then this will be even better because wear will be able to be spread even more evenly over the green and this also allows for a greater range of positions depending upon prevailing weather conditions.
