2.2.6 Weed content

For most situations a few finer, smaller weeds amongst the grass content aren’t going to be an issue.

However, we would not want too many large patches of broad-leaved weeds though, especially as these can cause a player to lose their grip and slip.

Moss would not be desirable in any large amounts because it is easily kicked out leaving a bare surface.

  Consider the following question:

1. If you walked over your pitch today what do you think would be the total percentage of the pitch that contains weeds?

Count the number of grids within the quadrat that have weed, including moss, present. Each square represents 1% of the total.

For each location throw the quadrat in 3 different positions and record each value.
