3.3 When are they carried out?

3.3.3 Applying fertiliser / biostimulants / soil conditioners / wetting agents

March to September will be the main period for applying fertilisers, taking care during prolonged dry periods as adequate soil moisture content is essential for good nutrient uptake. October and November might see a light application taking place, especially in the south of England.

Biostimulants and soil conditioners, depending on their actual composition will typically be applied during this period as well, although some soil conditioners might also be applied over the autumn and winter period.

Wetting agents will also typically be applied sometime from March through to September. It is essential to check the product label for these materials to ensure they are applied during a suitable month.
