To provide food and supplements for the grass plant to improve its health.
To add soil conditioners and wetting agents for improving soil growing conditions.
There are different types of spreader available.
The main two often used for large areas include (a) a spinning disc spreader and (b) an oscillating spreader.
(a) A disc shaped plate spins beneath a hopper and throws out the material as the equipment is in motion. A spinning disc spreader can either be pedestrian operated or tractor mounted.
(b) This device sits beneath a hopper in which granular fertiliser, or other similar material, is put. The mechanism moves from side to side, flicking out material when the drive is engaged and connected to a PTO of a tractor, or similar power unit.
Materials that are diluted with water will typically be applied to a pitch with a boom sprayer.
