Module 5:

Making connections

5.3 Providing insight into activities

5.3.11 Line marking

What is used?

Line marking equipment (Most are pedestrian operated, or autonomous robot markers, but an electric battery will be needed for the motor to dispense paint through spray lines and nozzles, where these from part of the sprayer. Other types, such as wheel-to-wheel transfer, will not require a battery).

Paint / marking materials; electricity to recharge battery (where present).

If a football pitch is marked out with a very dilute solution, which one of the following statements is most likely correct?

Line marker

Some reasons for line marking

  1. To ensure pitch markings comply with the laws of the game.
  2. To ensure players, referee and assistant referee / linesman, can clearly distinguish the different areas of a pitch and whether the ball is in or out of play.
  3. Where space permits on a large field, to more easily analyse drone footage where multiple pitches are present on site, allowing for easier pitch relocation / repositioning to take place so as to help spread wear more evenly over the site.
  4. To clearly identify the area needed for maintenance work to be focused on.
