5.3.21 Tractor / Power unit

What is used?

Tractor, often a compact one (typically 30-40hp), or similar.

Fuel for power unit.

Which one of the following options is the most significant reason for carrying out the majority of mechanical work with a tractor or power unit?

Some reasons for tractor or power unit use

1. Increase efficiency of resource use.
2. Reduce continued physical burden and fatigue on operator, in contrast to pedestrian operated equipment.
3. For heavy duty equipment and processes that are not suitable for pedestrian operation, providing greater power to penetrate and operate on turf and in soils.
4. Having availability of a versatile and multi-function device, basically a jack-of-all-trades for maintenance and renovation work, as well as for ancillary and supporting activities.

We have now provided some further insight into why a maintenance might be needed. Having an understanding of the purpose for each activity contributes towards creating a maintenance programme that is appropriate and fit for purpose for the desired pitch quality.
