Module 5:

Making connections

5.2 Not doing an activity

5.2.17 Sweeping / Vacuuming

Not sweeping or vacuuming a pitch when there is significant leaf fall present, can typically lead to which one of the following outcomes?

Sweeper

Surface debris will be present at certain times of the year, for example, leaf fall from deciduous trees (where they are present); decaying, dead and loose vegetation on the surface, especially following some mechanical activities like scarification, can make the pitch look less presentable if this is not carried out, especially for higher quality pitches. With an increase in moisture and relative humidity beneath a leaf layer within the grass sward there will also be an increasing likelihood of a disease attack.
