3.2.6 Applying top-dressing

To add sand / sandy material to the pitch to improve surface evenness.

If an entire pitch is to be top-dressed, then this would most likely be carried out by a contactor. Most clubs would not be in a position to purchase top-dressing unit.

Where heavier top-dressing applications have been applied, especially on pitches with unevenness surface levels, then the use of a lute / leveller could be used to help distribute the material into the hollows and gaps better, for example, than would be achieved with a drag brush.
